ABOUT US
The Department of Management Theories is part of the Faculty of Management Science and Informatics, University of Žilina. Its activities focus on education, research, and cooperation with practice in the fields of management, marketing, organizational management, information security, and sports management.
Emphasis is placed on linking theoretical knowledge with practical applications, developing managerial thinking, and supporting high-quality outcomes in both education and research.
The department provides education in management-oriented subjects at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral levels of study. Teaching is aimed at developing professional knowledge, analytical and critical thinking, and practical managerial skills. The educational process includes case studies, team projects, and solving real-world problems from practice.
RESEARCH
The department’s research activities are carried out through thematically focused research teams. The main research areas include organizational management, information and cyber security, and sports management, within which managerial and technological approaches are integrated to address current issues in both the academic environment and practice.

Management
The research team focuses on the development of modern management methods, strategic management, organizational innovation, process management, marketing, and human resource management.

Information security
The research team focuses on the development of knowledge and the application of managerial methods in the management of information and cyber security, with an emphasis on the effective use of modern ICT.

Sport Management
The aim of the research team is to integrate an academic perspective and apply managerial approaches supported by information and communication technologies in the sports environment.
